Sanaa Gateja is known as ‘The Bead King’ of Uganda. He is a pioneer in recycling materials in his art. His innovation of turning paper into beads spread throughout the whole East African region.

After opening his art gallery ‘Studio Sanaa’, he studid to be a jewellery designer and worked in the art and jewellery trade in London. Back in Uganda, he founded Kwetu Africa Art and Design Centre.

Join us for a conversation with Sanaa Gateja about evolving as an artist and sustaining your work as an artist during this month`s #CreativeTalksAfrica

Sanaa Gateja is currently part of the ‘Senority First’ exhibition at Afriart Gallery Kampala on 7th Street, Industrial Area. This exhibition displays works of six comtemporary Ugandan artists and the techniques they use.

After the talk at Design Hub Kampala, we will walk to Afriart Gallery to see the exhibition and get to know more about Sanaa Gateja’s (and the other artists) works.

As we have limited space for this Creative Talks, please RSVP to [email protected].

The Creative Talks Africa platform is a collaboration between Design Hub Kampala & KQ Hub Arica in partnership with Culture and Development East Africa.
